Settlement Support Services
MultiLink’s Settlement Support Services is funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC)’s Settlement Grants Program (SGP). To be eligible for Settlement Support Services you have to be a permanent resident, who arrived in Australia in the past 5 years as humanitarian entrant, or a family stream migrant with low English proficiency.
We provide casework, settlement information, referrals to mainstream government agencies and other service providers, general support and advocacy, assistance with forms and documentation. Our ultimate goal is to assist people to become self-reliant as soon as possible after arrival.
Clients can be supported with a range of issues including accommodation issues, health and mental health issues, financial budgeting including disputes with utility providers and the need for emergency relief, family and relationship issues, training and employment and obviously language assistance.
Some of our clients may face a crisis in their lives or may have multiple issues to deal with at the same time. For these clients who need support above and beyond what Settlement casework can provide, there is an option of being referred to Complex Case Support also funded by DIAC. Once approved, these clients can be provided with crisis intervention and intensive case-management.
Settlement Services also facilitates the following:-

We also organise information sessions for our clients on identified issues such as drivers’ education, health and nutrition, fire safety and emergency services.
