Aged Care Friendship Volunteer
About the Role: As a Volunteer Visitor, you’ll be matched with an older person living in a residential aged care facility or in their own home. Your visits will be social—sharing stories, having a cup of tea, going for a walk, or enjoying a shared hobby.
Your companionship can:
- Help reduce loneliness and isolation
- Improve emotional wellbeing and quality of life
- Create meaningful intergenerational connections
We’re looking for people who are:
- Friendly, empathetic and good listeners
- Respectful of diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Available to visit at least once a fortnight (or more if you’d like)
- 18 years or older
No experience required – just your time and compassion. We provide ongoing support, and cover costs for background checks!
Why volunteer with us?
- We pay you for your travel – we pay your KMs – ($0.99 / km)
- Be part of a meaningful and supportive community
- Make a real difference in someone’s life
- Gain experience in community and aged care
Requirements:
- National Police Check (organised and paid for by us)
- COVID-19 and flu vaccination (as per aged care guidelines)
- Willingness to commit to regular visits for at least 6 months
Got a Blue Card and Yellow Card? Awesome! If not — no worries, we’ll help you get them sorted! We just need all our volunteers to have current and valid cards to keep everyone safe and supported.
Ready to bring a smile to someone’s face? Apply today and we’ll be in touch to chat about how you can get involved.
